Mill on the Brue Outdoor Activity Centre is definitely different from other activity centres! We are a family run, not for profit, educational and environmental organisation which has been inspiring and educating children and adults since 1982.
We provide courses for school, youth, special needs and adult groups, summer camps for unaccompanied children, birthday parties and outdoor activity days for all. Open from the end of January to the beginning of December, there are over 40 exciting, outdoor adventure, educational & environmental activities on our 25 acre site in the heart of beautiful Somerset.
We also run company team building, management training courses, conferences and company challenge events, as well as Stag and Hen activity days. Additionally the award winning Longhouse, provides space for 120 people to dine whilst overlooking the beautiful Brue valley. The Longhouse, with adjacent vaulted wine cellar, is licensed to hold civil weddings and is the perfect wedding or event venue throughout the year.
Based in Bruton, South East Somerset, on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire, we are only two hours from London and one hour from Bath and Bristol. We are founder members of the British Activity Providers Association, licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, a member of the Institute of Outdoor Learning, a British Canoe Union Approved Centre and hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Badge.
For Mill on the Brue, being environmental is a way of life. As 2014 holder of the top accolade, the Gold Tourism Business Scheme Award, we meet their exacting standards. Insulating buildings throughout, solar heating for hot water, a solar voltaic array which produces 70% of our electricity, active reduction in food and other waste, rainwater harvesting for loos and motion sensors to save electricity, a tree planting programme, producing organic vegetables and fruit; all these are ways that we are constantly examining to improve and educate ourselves and our customers.
