This month Bruton Museum casespace we will be showing the work of Duncan Hooper who started turning wood in his first job as an antique restorer, making replacement knobs for furniture. Twenty years later the present of a lathe from his wife started his passion for making bowls. The green timber he uses contains water which shrinks, distorts and splits the wood as it dries, adding character and uniqueness to his bowls. His love of the grain shows in his beautiful bowls which celebrate the complexity and unique nature of the tree.
