The Bruton Packhorse Fair 2014 provided a really fun and entertaining day for the many visitors who attended this year, and the weather held out too! There was plenty of live music throughout the day, great food, bars, a farmers’ market, and huge variety of stalls. Ben Taylor, took to the back streets of Bruton to see what makes this historic festival so very unique.

The kids had lots of fun
There was loads for the youngsters to do including circus skills, a big inflatable slide, bouncy castle, hair braiding, face painting and Raku pottery stall.
Introducing The Flying Seagulls
The inimitable Flying Seagulls served up an interactive show of creative and fun experiences full of music, energy and laughter. This included tight rope walking, face-painting, magic shows and entertaining circus performances.
The Drag Race
This year the lovely ladies of Bruton ran in memory of Rachel Carpenter who was a much loved and respected member of the Bruton community and one highly regarded for her energy and vision as a key member for many years of Bruton’s Chamber of Commerce.
An amazing £780 was raised and will go towards the cost of lining the town with illuminated Christmas trees in December. This popular initiative, together with the Late Night Shopping events, was co-ordinated by Rachel in recent years.
A big thank you to everyone who donated so generously!
